Environmental Screening Workshop On Independent Power Project For NNPC/CNL
Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), a subsidiary of Chevron Texaco Overseas Petroleum the operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/Chevron Joint Venture (JV), is to embark on an Independent Power Project as part of its desire to meet the Federal Government directives setting a target to International Oil Companies operating in Nigeria to assist in the generation of an additional 5,000MW capacity of electricity. In pursuant of this, NNPC/CNL JV is proposing to Build, Own and Operate (BOO), model 800 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant at Agura in Lagos State close to the Lagos Egbin Thermal Power Station.
In line with Federal Ministry of Environment (FMEnv), Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) requirements and CNL’s corporate expectation & international best practice CNL organized an Environmental Screening Workshop. The screening workshop was intended to identify early key issues & potential significant impacts on valued environmental components of project area.
